Vodafone enters growing Spanish low-cost fixed-mobile market
Vodafone España’s low-cost mobile subsidiary Lowi is launching a new ‘no frills’ converged offering – La Fibra de Lowi – without a TV element combining high-speed internet with mobile.
The service will offer a single speed option of 50Mbps via Vodafone’s HFC cable network, along with options to sign up for different mobile data packages, from 1GB to 8GB, with prices ranging from €37 to €47.
The service will not include fixed telephony or TV, or the option to take multiple mobile lines. The fixed element will also be made available via Vodafone’s fibre network.
The launch, which will take place in the next few weeks, will take Vodafone into a market where rival Orange is already present via its Jazztel offering, alongside Amena.com and MásMóvil.
Vodafone’s main rival Telefónica is also planning to launch a low-cost converged offering, Tuenti, but has yet to give a date.
