TV Connect 2017: Stofa to launch Android TV-based service with iWedia
Danish cable operator Stofa has tapped TV technology provider iWedia to provide its Teatro-3.5 software for Android TV to operate its next-generation set-top box.
Stofa, owned by energy group SE, will deploy Teatro-3.5 with Android TV 7.0 Nougat, integrated with conditional access, in a 4K box provided by Korean manufacturer Kaon Media.
Teatro-3.5 is a software solution for set-tops operated under Android TV. It is based on iWedia’s Android4TV framework which extends Android TV with broadcast and multicast pay TV functionalities implemented as input modules of the Android TV Input Framework (TIF).
“We are honored and delighted to have been selected by Stofa to provide the software of their next-gen Android TV box,” says Nikola Teslić, CTO at iWedia.
“Thanks to Teatro-3.5 Stofa can use Android TV as a vehicle for their own premium services and provide their subs with the best out of both worlds”.
