Blinkx launches new consumer video player

OTT streaming video specialist Blinkx has launched a new consumer offering, Skyrocket Player.

The downloadable Windows application enables online video viewing directly on a user’s desktop while working, browsing the web or gaming. Blinkx is also currently developing a version of Skyrocket Player for mobile devices.

Blinkx has launched a floating player that can be positioned and resized anywhere on a user’s screen. The player also includes a transparency mode allows the user to select the level of transparency in order to view and even continue to click and work through the player while a video plays, creating an ideal video-viewing environment for multitaskers with limited screen space, according to the company.

Skyrocket Player offers channels from Blinkx’s premium content offering as well as videos from other online video providers.

Skyrocket Player also offers users the ability to bookmark videos and create their own personal playlists.
